2020-21 Enrollment Application Process

OCASA is accepting applications for students from K to 9th grade for the 2020-21 school year​​

Thank you for your interest in enrolling your child at Orange County Academy of Arts and Sciences for the 2020-2021 school year.  We understand how important it is to find the right educational program for your child, and appreciate your consideration of OCASA as your school of choice. 


Steps for Enrollment 

As a public charter school, Orange County Academy of Sciences and Arts must follow the guidelines outlined in our charter petition regarding admission and enrollment of students. The process explained below was designed to provide a fair opportunity for all students to apply to our school, regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, home language, or disability.


1. Open Enrollment Period

OCASA's open enrollment period for the 2020-21 school year begins January 6, 2020 and ends February 29, 2020 at midnight.  Applications received after the deadline will be placed on the wait list as a first come first served basis.

2. Parent Information Meeting

Interested parents may attend a Parent Information Meeting prior to applying for enrollment at OCASA. OCASA is hosting several Parent Information Meetings throughout the months of January and February.  Attendance is optional and an RSVP is not required.


3. Enrollment Application

Parents will be given the opportunity to complete an application for enrollment.  The Enrollment Application can be completed online, and must be received before midnight on February 29, 2020.  Applications received after this date will be placed directly on the wait list. All information must be 100% complete.  ​

4. Lottery

Following the Open Enrollment period, applications will be counted to determine whether any grade level has received more applications than availability. In the event that this happens, OCASA will hold a random public lottery to determine enrollment for the impacted grade levels, with the exception of existing students who are guaranteed enrollment in the following school year. Siblings of students drawn from the random public lottery will also be placed depending upon space available at the given grade level during the lottery process.

5. Lottery Results

Parents and guardians are welcome to attend the lottery, but your presence is not required. A notice of the lottery results will be emailed to all applicants by May 1, 2020.

6. Admission to OCASA

Upon acceptance to Orange County Academy of Sciences and Arts, an online Admissions Packet must be completed which includes an admissions application, home language survey, health history questionnaire, class placement form, copy of most current immunizations, and a copy of the student's IEP or 504 plan, if applicable. No student will be denied admission to OCASA based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, home language, or disability.

Parent Information Meetings will be held in the Carole Allen Auditorium at 29292 Crown Valley Parkway, Laguna Niguel, CA 92677. ​

Key Enrollment Dates

February 29, 2020  - Application due to be included in the lottery.

April 15, 2020 at 3:00 pm -  Lottery

May 1, 2020  - Offers of admission to be sent

June 1, 2020  - Final admission packet due
